Here's a close up of the border. And some closeups of a few of the blocks.
The background is flannel and the applique is wool.
Then, this summer I signed up for their block of the week again. This time I made myself work on each block as it arrived. I actually finished it right on time. Hooray! The background on this is a hand dyed cotton. The sashing and borders are cotton.
And a closeup of one of the blocks.
I absolutely LOVE working with wool. It just feels so good!
The mystery flag gift giver was none other than my wonderful friend Patty who lives in Calif and who I have known for more than 35 years. She sent it to me "just because". Isn't that sweet? Thanks Patty, I love it!

I debated doing this block of the week last year. I loved it. I am not a big fan of flannel. How did you like working with it as opposed to cotton? Yours is beautiful!
Love, love, love that wool! Hope I can keep you out of her booth and in mine. (:
Both are just beautiful and what a wonderful friend you have:)

Love your quilts. Your work is awesome! It makes me miss working in the quilt shop and teaching classes. How wonderful of your friend of 35 years to surprise you! I have a dear friend that I've known since I was 10 years old...that makes it almost 40 years that we've been close friends. Aren't old friends special and dear to our hearts!!

Anne,
Love your quilts, very nice. I love that shop too, and I am doing those quilts, but they look a bit different than yours. Lol...unfinished! Handquilting will make them even more beautiful.
Have fun in Houston!
Wow! Both of them are gorgeous! You ought to enter them in the next Sisters quilt show!
What great quilts! I love working with wool also. You can really make progress quickly. You did a beautiful job on yours!
Anne - I am amazed at the work you put into those two projects - fabulous! Do you needle-turn your wool, or is it raw edge appliqued? Cheers!
Your quilts are both beautiful! True heirlooms. Glad you discovered the name of your gift giver. It is wonderful to have old friends.
Both quilts are wonderful! You did such a good job.
