I've been reading lots of blogs that have gorgeous pictures of fall foliage, so I thought I'd show you a bit of what fall looks like in Bend, OR. You probably think of Oregon as having lots of rain, therefore, lots of trees with lots of color, right? WRONG! There are two parts of Oregon. The wet side (west of the Cascade Mountains which is probably brilliant with color right about now) and the dry side (east of the Cascades, which isn't. LOL). We live on the east side at about 3500 ft. There are mostly Pine and Juniper trees which are evergreens, so...no color. When you do see colorful trees, you can bet that they were probably planted by those of us who moved here and wanted some variety.
This is looking out from our deck. Don't get too overwhelmed now!
Our front yard.. which will be covered in snow fairly soon. Oh No! Pretty red bushes planted by us for........color!
Mother Nature blessed the mountains with some snow this week. We only got a dusting at our house.
And, a close up of those gorgeous Cascade mountains. This was taken at the end of our driveway. We live in a beautiful part of the country but, we just don't get to experience autumn like some of you do.
So, keep posting those pictures of your glorious trees for us here to enjoy.
Mountains like that are just second to foliage in my book of favorites sites to see. Just breathtaking!

ReplyDeleteWOW beautiful area you live in Anne - you may not have the color but you have something that I don't - beautiful view of the mountains. Your front yard looks HUGE.

I wonder if you live over on the side of town where my brother (and the infamous SIL Linda) lives. The scenery in those pictures looks really familiar to me.
