This is a project I've been working on with a group online. The pattern is "The Great Pumpkin" by Briar Rose Designs and calls for 15" blocks. I didn't want a giant pumpkin quilt, so I decided to reduce the pattern by 50%. The blocks now measure 7.5" and they are pretty cute if I do say so myself. I still need to add embroidery on some of the blocks, machine blanket stitch all the applique and then pick out some sashing and border fabric. Maybe it will be completely finished by NEXT fall. LOL. I used my stash for this and hardly even made a dent in it.
I think the quilt will finish at around 36" x 38" depending on how wide I make the borders. (nice size for a little wallhanging)
Hi Annie-Is that your actually quilt??? It looks wonderful!! I am amazed at all you get done.....you go girl!!

I drolled over this pattern for some time. I love the idea of making it half size! Yours is turning out just beautifully!

ReplyDeleteAnne, we must be "channeling" each other - Winter Wonderland and the pumpkin quilt! I have the pumpkin pattern and am still collecting fat Q's! Great idea to downsize it - you're so clever! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThat is just beautiful, I love all the different squares. What a good idea to make it smaller.

ReplyDeleteI've been admiring this pattern on a few blogs . . . I like the half size idea - looks very nice. I'll have to add this one to my list of must gets. Keep up the great work and remember to show it with all the borders and embroidery completed. - Marlene
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice. It will make a very pretty wall hanging.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea to reduce it. It will be just the right size for hanging. Nice going getting it all from stash. It is darling!
ReplyDeleteDuh....why is it I never think to reduce a pattern? Great idea....a much better size for something seasonal. It's just adorable! Great job....look forward to seeing the finish next Fall. LOL
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your quilt...and what a great idea to reduce it...I'm going to have to remember that the next time I want to make a quilt but not have it so big!
ReplyDeleteCharming pieces... what a great idea... have fun...
ReplyDeleteWow - at 50%, that means the originals were 15"? I definitely love your little size much better. Very Cute!
ReplyDeleteHi, I am a fellow Great Pumpkin maker (Rabbitstitchings/Sandy) Your GP looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteI am working on the block with the pilgrim hat and I have to say this hat is stumping me a bit on exactly how to cut and stitch this LOL... I guess the brim is supposed to be cut as a piece and stitched and then the top of the hat is cut by itself placed on first then put the brim on etc... for some reason this is confusing me LOL...
Anyway yours looks great! WTG
