Yep, it’s official

I’m crazy! During the hot spell we had, I continued working on WOOL projects. Here are the stockings I finished. Now I just have sew the lining.

This is a picture that I scanned from the book “Primitive Christmas” from Primitive Gatherings. Just wanted to show you what Santa's beard looks like (from my previous post).

I think I’ve decided to use wool roving and hot glue it down. Easy peasy!

So…it has cooled down by almost 30 degrees, Woo Hoo, and what am I working on now? Why COTTON of course! See what I mean? I’m officially nutzo!

It’s a pattern by Bonnie Blue Quilts and I’m using the Sturbridge Village calicos.

Lots of half square triangles. I always oversize them and then trim to size. Makes for much more accurate piecing. Here are my “trims”.

I’m still finding my “trims” all over the house. LOL

I’ll show you more of the quilt when I start putting it together. One thing I know for sure…I like hand work much more than machine piecing. Is that another “nutzo” thing? Oh heaven help me!

    I have this book and I LOVE it! Your stockings are adorable and will become family heirlooms!! There are a lot of nice projects to do in this book. Must pull it out ...soon!!

    The stockings turned out so cute! My friend bought these last time we were there and I can't wait so see her get started on them so I can see them in person again :o) Just love that tree one!

    The wool stockings are wonderful! Hope you are going to fill them with goodies. If I remember correctly about the patterns, they are not big stockings. Which one is mine? LLOL!

    Anne, I prefer handwork over machine work, too! I love the cat nesting in the midst of your trimmings. Too cute! I learned the trick of making blocks slightly larger and trimming to size this past summer from a fellow blogger. It was a life-saver when I needed to make 60 blocks for a swap! The stockings are great. I am ready for fall weather and lots of wool projects.

    Love the warm and cozy stockings. Perhaps working with wool helped you to think of winter during your heat spell? I don't like doing hand work...I LOVE my machine.

    By the way ,just a silly question, but what is the difference between flannel and wool? We can buy here in switzerland flanel fabric, but what we call wool here looks so different from what I see in your pictures.So I am wondering....

    HA I knew your previous threat was an idle one. The stockings are very cute and Santa just looks like he shaved for the summer but since he's magical, he will have his wonderful beard in time for Christmas.

    As for being nutzo, well yeah, but we tend to hang out where we are comfortable so you are in good company :0)

    The stockings are to die for! Great job! Now if I were santa coming down your chimney, I certainly wouldn't fill those stockings because they'd be coming back to the North Pole with me! But I might leave a few pressies on the mantle instead.

    From one hand piecer to another - hand piecing is the ultimate relaxer I think! That any of us works on quilts in the summer (here in the US) is nuts, lets face it! Looking forward to your quilt with the Sturbridge fabrics.

    Yup - crazy I think, Anne....or did you freeze the wool first to keep it cool while you sewed - LOL! I think I know where you're getting your roving (wink)!
    How funny - I do my HST's the same way - sure saves a lot of work and worry!

    Hey Peaches - Those stockings are adorable - but so is everything that comes from Primitive Gatherings - that's why we love her right :). Your fabric blocks are looking lovely as well. My I'm using the word lovely, what's with that, lol. Jack looks very comfy on his little nest pile. You know I read this post a while back and forgot to comment - must be the cough medicine, lol. And you know I'm with you - handwork is the BEST

    I have and love that book too! And I sure do wish it would cool down about 30 degrees here... though I expect I will have to wait for Christmas for that.

    This is going to sound "nutso" but I love those little piles of trimmings. I don't know what it is about them but it's almost hard to throw them away. (I even saved some for a while until I realized that was certifiably "nutso".)

    The stockings are terrific ~ and I look forward to seeing the quilt!
