Another house update

I hope all you people affected by the Great Blizzard of 2011 are staying warm. I know you probably don’t want to hear this but we are having an unusually mild winter. In fact, it’s so mild that we haven’t had one day of delay in construction.

We went over today to see the progress and were really excited to see how much has been done in such a short time.

This is the first view we have when driving up.

002-6

The first thing we noticed was that the windows were installed.

003-6

And the roof shingles are on in the front of the house.

004-6

And the plumber has been busy.

009-5

The heating and cooling guys are working their magic too. This is the ceiling area in my nest. Kinda fun to see what’s “behind the scenes”.

The fireplace framed out.

007-8

These are the windows in the great room. That’s a covered patio outside those windows.

016-2

Back views.

013-3

017-1

I’m loving the look of my nest up there. Can’t wait for it to continue taking shape.

So, there you have it. Lots getting done.

Friday we pick out flooring, tile, carpet, and granite. I’ll try to remember to take pictures if I’m not too overwhelmed. Smile

Hugs, Anne

  2. Your house is moving fast! I am so excited for you. The one thing I would change about my house is a sewing room. I sure do wish I sewed before I bought it.

  3. Wow, moving right along!!! I love looking at homes in progress, seeing whats in the walls and all. Perfect winter for building a new home, at least these last two weeks. I'm not so sure about water this summer but we have time left to hopefully getting some snowpack.

  6. Anne it's looking fantastic...that was one of my favorite times...when I could see where the rooms were and all the wires, pipes and AC/heat stuff that we never see. Oh you're going to have so much fun picking out your flooring and granite...fun, fun, fun!

  10. Your house is looking so nice, I can imagine you are in a hurry to fit in your new nest !
Thank you for sharing the process of construction with us. We are thinking to build our and as American houses are not built as French one, it gives me an idea of what to expect (and for timing too)

  14. I think your sewing nest will be the best room in the house, Anne! Actually it all looks great - the back is so wonderfully open - and a covered patio is genius! Can't wait to see the finishes you pick!
    Cheers!
