Quilt show, part 2

Jill Monley was the featured quilter. She made this quilt for her niece who is getting married this week. She had taken a class from Mary Lou Weidman in July (of THIS year). Talk about getting something done quickly…Wow.

Isn’t it cute? Do you see the quilted "I do's"?

And some more of Jill’s.

The guild has an annual retreat and there’s always a class you can take if you want to. This year they made quilts using the snail’s trail block.

And it looks like I wasn’t the only person thinking of the holidays when it was hot. LOL

Parking was in a vacant DIRT lot across the street. What with all the wind, I got back to my car and you couldn’t even tell what color it was. I’ve never seen it so dirty. So, look what I did…

Quilt Show in the Park

I was just visiting Carrie’s blog and she mentions that I have quilt show pictures.  Unfortunately, at that point, I didn’t, but she sure gave me a push to get this post done.

Saturday was the annual quilt show in the park by our local guild, Mt Bachelor Quilter’s Guild.   Nadine and I went and had a great time catching up with friends and wandering the park grounds looking at a wonderful display of quilts.  Check out her blog for more pictures.

Mt Bachelor Guild Quilt Show 2009 031 Alot of these quilts are going to have shadows on them because of the trees.  I did the best I could to edit them so you can see them.

It was kind of windy, so  you’ll see some quilts that were “blowing in the wind”.

Wa la!

First of all, thanks to everyone for wishing Mr. CnW a happy birthday. Who woulda thunk a man of his age (old) would get his feelings hurt by not making the blog cut? I’m still smiling about that. He read each and every one of the comments and you all made his day!

Now, on to quilty stuff.

Remember these?

261

This is what they turned into.

011

I was a little concerned about how busy the neutrals were, but once it got put together, I decided I like it. The pattern is called “Glory Bound” by Bonnie Blue Quilts.

I think I’m going to tea dye it or distress it or whatever you do to give it an aged look. I’ll have Mary from Quilt Hollow help me with that part since she does it to most of her quilts. Okay Mary?

Went to the guild’s quilt show in the park today. I’ll post pictures once I get them edited.

Hugs, Anne

A sulking hubby

Yesterday was Mr. Cottons ‘n Wool’s birthday (from here on out to be known as Mr. CnW), and his feelings were hurt that he didn’t make the blog.

This is the cake I got him. It’s a tiny little cake but oh so good.

012

The insides? A spice apple caramel. Oh, yumms!

016

So, Happy Birthday Mr. CnW. I love you!

Yep, it’s official

I’m crazy! During the hot spell we had, I continued working on WOOL projects. Here are the stockings I finished. Now I just have sew the lining.

014

This is a picture that I scanned from the book “Primitive Christmas” from Primitive Gatherings. Just wanted to show you what Santa's beard looks like (from my previous post).

I think I’ve decided to use wool roving and hot glue it down. Easy peasy!

So…it has cooled down by almost 30 degrees, Woo Hoo, and what am I working on now? Why COTTON of course! See what I mean? I’m officially nutzo!

It’s a pattern by Bonnie Blue Quilts and I’m using the Sturbridge Village calicos.

261

Lots of half square triangles. I always oversize them and then trim to size. Makes for much more accurate piecing. Here are my “trims”.

260

Hmm, look who’s nesting.

259

He’s thinking that if he can’t see me, then I can’t see him! Sorry Jack, I know what you’re up to!

257

I’m still finding my “trims” all over the house. LOL

I’ll show you more of the quilt when I start putting it together. One thing I know for sure…I like hand work much more than machine piecing. Is that another “nutzo” thing? Oh heaven help me!

Hugs, Anne

A Tisket a Tasket – block 8

It’s hard to believe that August is here and fall is just around the corner. I’m looking forward to fall because we’ve had some really hot weather and with it have come lightening and thunderstorms. (and….I don’t like lightening and thunder). 004-2

Isn’t this a cute block that Anne has come up with for August? Cupcakes are so the “thing” right now. And they are the perfect dessert to take to a picnic. (If there isn’t any thunder and lightening…LOL)

After I got my block finished, I thought it would have looked cute with some sprinkles on the frosting. I may go back and add some french knots and straight stitches in some fun colors. What do you think?005-1

Is anyone out there working on these blocks in wool with me? Because if not, I'm not doing anymore! It's too hot!

Hugs, Anne
