A little show n tell.

Well, last month I told you that Sandy and I were not going to be doing our projects together anymore, rather, we would be concentrating on tackling our kits and UFO's.  After much soul searching, we both realized that our monthly show and tell day was a huge motivator to actually get our projects completed.  So, we decided to continue that tradition even though we would be working on different things

We talked to the Woolies about this and invited the whole group to join us for a group show and tell at the last meeting of the month. A few of the ladies joined in this month, but hopefully, more will participate in months to come.   Kind of short notice!

So, here we go.

First up is Lori who joined the Kim Dielh Simple Whatnots club #4.

And then she showed us her Civil War Sampler by Barbara Brackman.   I am working on it now and wanted to see how many blocks she put in hers when setting it on point.  I love this setting.

Sandy brought in a couple of finished ones.  This first one is from the Kindred Spirits Club by the ladies of Yellow Creek Quilt Designs.

And this one is an old pattern by Indygo Junction in their series called "A Folk Quilt of the Month"

Mari brought in 14 sets of little pairs of mats that she's giving to her quilting friends at her next retreat.   Don't you wish you were one of those friends?   She got the designs from other patterns that she has and also came up with some of them on her own.

She made 14 sets but it looks like one set was being passed around when I took the pictures.

Next, Anna just got back from a cruise where Stacy from Buttermilk Basin and Lisa from Primitive Gatherings were the instructors.   She's already finished this one that Lisa designed.    Speedy Gonzales, there.

Check out all the fun stitches she used on the flower.

I got quite a bit accomplished in February.  First up is the monthly series from Buttermilk Basin called "Sew Simple".  This one is for April.

This one is called "Scarecrow" by Chestnut Junction.

And this one is my version of the Kindred Spirits Club.   I forgot to mention that the name of the pattern is Two Way Street.    If you go back and look at Sandy's, you'll see that even though we both had the exact same kit, we still managed to make them differently.
We even put the flying geese going in different directions.   LOL
I have it next to the one we did last month.

I did the Indygo Junction little monthly for October.

Last May when I visited Karen in Minnesota, she took us to Sewing Seeds in New Ulm.  This is their Row by Row from 2014.  I bought the kit but finished it as a wall hanging instead of a row.
If you're ever in that neck of the woods, be sure and check out the shop.  It's absolutely darling.
Sorry that the picture is washed out.   The light from the window next to it was giving me fits.

I've had this little stitchery half finished for years.
Decided to get it done as part of my UFO busting.
It's called "Little Blessings" by Twigs n Sprigs.  I don't think the designer is in business anymore.

And last up is a pattern by Primitive Stitches called "Be My Valentine". Another half finished project that needed the borders.

So, that's it for February.   I met my challenge and have many more UFO's to get done.
Wish me luck.

See you next month.

Hugs, Anne

Civil War Sunday and more Aussies

It's that day of the week for the next block reveal with Karen. This week, the name of the block is "Peace and Plenty".  I'm not sure that I like the fabrics I picked this time.  The green is a rather putrid green.  Hopefully, when all the blocks get put together, I won't even notice.

Last week when we posted our blocks, I got an email from Elaine (who is a "no reply" commenter)

She told me that I had the top left block facing the wrong direction.  When I took a look at it, it looked to me as if the bottom right block is wrong.  Anyway, I pulled out the book to take a look and...

if Elaine and I are right, it looks like the block in the book is wrong.  As luck would have it, I happened to have the same fabrics that were used in the book, so I made it almost identical to the original.

So, now it's bugging me and I'll probably have to take it apart.  My instinct is to turn the one on the bottom right 180 degrees so that the blue half square triangles are touching in the corners.   What do you all think?

I'm almost finished showing you Quilt Market photos.  Believe it or not!

One of the booths I always enjoy is The Quilted Crow Girls. They combine cottons and wool, and you all know how much I love that combo.

These are pincushions.  They have a club for them.   Cute, huh?

Lovely!

A great table runner with some cute framed applique pictures.

These colors caught my eye.  It would look so cute on my table. I should have grabbed it when they weren't looking. LOL

Another great table runner.

I love that the Aussies are making quilts just for us in the USA!  The crows in the corners just make this quilt a winner!  (HA....Karen just told me that these next two patterns belong to Geoff's Mom Pattern Co.   So sorry, Joyce.   Just pretend you saw them on the previous post)

And this one could be made by any quilter in any country!

I can't believe it's almost July.   We had temps in the 50's this weekend and rain all day today.  Geesh, what's up with that?  Of course, that would be after Mr CnW and I just got our anniversary gifts to each other.   BIKES!   (Have I told you how much I'm not looking forward to having "helmet hair"?)  In addition to that, we have the grandkiddos coming to visit and we need warm SUN!   I know they won't care if they are swimming in the cold, but I sure will!

See you soon with the final post for quilt market and the giveaway that I've been promising you!

Hugs, Anne

Civil War Sunday

It's Civil War Sunday with Karen again.    This week we're showing you 2 blocks to make up for missing last Sunday's deadline.    These blocks are nice and easy to make, so we should be able to finish up on time.  (whenever that is).  :)

This first one up is called "Strength in Union".   It's been interesting to follow along with Barbara Brackman's stories of the Civil War.

And this one is called "Fox and Geese".

And, the two of them together.

Head on over and see what wonderful blocks Karen has stitched up.

And now, we return our previously scheduled programming... Quilt Market.  LOL

This is Joyce Weeks of Geoff's Mom Patterns.   Isn't she cute?
I love this quilt she's standing in front of.

Here's a close up of the applique.

But check out the basket border surrounding the applique blocks.  I think it's genius.   I can't remember seeing that before.

This is a great pattern too.   You might remember it from Karen's giveaway last week.   Two lucky winners get to make this quilt.

This one with the little stars caught my attention.    I love stars, and stars on a light background just gets me every time.

Striking, yes?

Here's Joyce's helper knitting in front of another lovely quilt.

I'm cutting this short because we are having thunder and lightening right now and I want to get off the computer and into the closet!   Yes, I'm scared to death of it.

Only a couple more things to show you from Market and then another giveaway.

Have a great week everyone.

Hugs, Anne

Civil War Sunday #6, Quilt Market, and a giveaway

Sorry I haven't posted Quilt Market pictures sooner but...you know me...always a day late.  But, I'm like the little tortoise that keeps plugging along and in the end I come through for ya.  :)

We're on Block #6 of the Civil War Sampler and this block is called "Port and Starboard".   I love  civil war cheddar fabrics and decided that this block needed them.   Check out Karen's blog and see what she came up with.

After Quilt Market was over, Karen came back to Bend with me for a few days.  After some rainy days in Portland, the weather here cooperated and one day we had crystal clear skies.   I took her up to Pilot Butte for the view and nice man snapped this picture of us.   (My old house is in the background.  Can you find it?) Oh, I crack myself up sometimes.

We had a great visit and I hope she enjoyed a little part of my world.

Now, on to Quilt Market.   One of my favorite booths and designers is Lisa Bongean from Primitive Gatherings.   I feel like I have every pattern and kit she's ever offered, big and little.  She's unbelievably talented and such a smart businesswoman.  You go, Lisa!

Here are her newest designs.  I'll be buying this one for sure.

And here she has more wonderful new mat designs.

Wouldn't this look cute in your sewing room?

The little quilt on the rack had super tiny pieces.   Lisa loves working with those itty bitty scraps!

Loving that cheddar fabric.

Check out the crazy stitches on this one.

This is the "freebie" from last Summer's Block of the Week.    Oh, by the way, there's still time to sign up for this summer's one.   It's a stunner, that's for sure.  (and, you'll get freebie blocks too).

 So simple, yet so effective.

When I asked Lisa if I could blog about her booth, (I always make sure to ask the designers), she very generously offered a kit for a giveaway.  So.... the only thing I'm asking for you to do to enter is...

tell me what your favorite thread is for your wool applique.   If you haven't worked with wool yet, then tell me what your favorite thread is for general sewing.

I'll pick a winner in the next couple days.   (I hate to give you a specific date, because you know me...)   Hehe.

Head on over to Primitive Gatherings and pick up a pattern or kit or two.

Thanks for stopping by and stick with me because I have a few more giveaways.

Hugs, Anne
