September show and tell

I know, I know...I'm late.  This time I have a really good excuse tho.   My computer caught a virus and had to go see the Dr for 3 days.   Then I had to get all the pictures loaded onto the computer and edited.   Since there wasn't much show and tell last month, there are quite a few pictures this time. I think I'm going to break it up into two separate posts.

Before I begin, I wanted to let those of you who don't know, about a little Fall Decorating Tour I'm participating in on Instagram.    If you want to see some fun pictures that Karen, Sandy, Patty, Tammy and I are sharing, then follow one of us on Instagram and that one will link you to the others.    I'm @cottonsnwool, Karen is @yellowfarmhouse, Sandy is @sfeigner, Patty is @myrty50 and Tammy is @basketnut1.    On Sept 23, we started showing our houses all decorated for fall and will continue every evening until Oct 11th.   Then we'll take a break for a couple of weeks and come back at the end of Oct with some Halloween decorating.    Hope to see you on Instagram.

Now, on with Part 1 of show and tell.

First up is a pillow that Marilyn made.  She borrowed my Indygo Junction pattern for July and made 2 pillows for her daughter and son in law who live in Boston and love to sail.

Mari made this quilt top but I don't remember the name of the pattern.  Sorry.

She also whipped up this goodie from Crabapple Hill Designs.

Jean continues working on her wool Summertime Sampler blocks.
Looks like these little fishies need some eyes!

The rest are all projects that Sandy finished up.

This one is called Country Homecoming from the book called Primitive Gatherings
by Terry Burkhart and Rozan Meacham
A few years ago I had a quilt-a-long on my blog for anyone who wanted to work on this one.
It was really fun to see all the different versions.
Sandy participated but just finished quilting hers.

This cute little kitty is called "Hocus the Halloween Cat by Briar Root Primitives

These next little pillow bowl fillers are from Cheri of Quilts by Cheri

And this one is a quilt block from Wooden Spool Designs called "Happy Halloween"
There are 12 blocks on the quilt but Sandy wanted to make a little pillow instead.

This little pillow was a freebie from Buttermilk Basin this summer.

And continuing on with the monthly series from Sarah Spoorer of Indygo Junction,
here is Sept

and June.
I think Sandy is now finished with all 12.

This cute patriotic quilt is called "Crossroads" from the book, Civil War Remembered.

We can't get enough of the quilts by Cheri of Quilts by Cheri
Cheri just shared this pattern on her Facebook Group.
It's called "Turkey Tracks".

This little one is on the same pattern.

There were so many finished projects that I'm breaking this up into 2 posts.
See you tomorrow.

Moving Day!

Can you believe it?  Construction is finished and we're now ready to move in and enjoy our houses and all the neighbors.

If I hadn't been doing this project as a quilt-a-long, it would have definitely become another UFO.   I really struggled with this one as I'm sure I've told you often (like in EVERY post).   I have to say though, that now that the applique is on the borders, it was worth every screaming fit!   I love it.

If you're new to my blog, the quilt is called Country Homecoming and it can be found in this book. (I think it's now out of print, but can sometimes be found on used book store websites).

This is Sandy's (no blog) neighborhood.   I think she struggled with it as much as I did....she just didn't complain as much.  :)

Here's mine.    I'm really anxious to get it quilted and bound.   I never thought I be this excited!

I want to take this opportunity to thank all those wonderful bloggers who came on this journey with me.   Like I said....if it weren't for you gals, there wouldn't be 12 finished houses!

Head on over and see what the rest of the quilt-a-longers have done with their neighborhoods.

Paulette, Patty, Shazy, Sandy R, and Anna.

Thanks to the rest of you who have made such nice comments over these past months which also kept me plugging along.

I'll be sure and show you what it looks like after it's been quilted.

Hugs, Anne

Country Homecoming walk thru

It's time for the "walk thru" with the contractor to make sure everything is ready for move in next month.

The end is in sight and I'm liking what I see so far.   All the "pretty things" are being added and what a difference that has made for me.   I can't even begin to tell you what a struggle this quilt has been. The only thing that has kept me motivated is seeing pictures of the finished quilt.

I think all of the neighbors are at about the same point in the construction, so take a look and see their almost-finished neighborhoods.

Here's Sandy's.   She added her borders and then did the vines so she could get a good placement of her stars.   She'll be adding the leaves and berries in the next month.

This one is mine.   I chose not to sew the borders onto the top until after I have all the applique finished.   I'll then add the corner stars.    I don't like doing hand applique with the bulk of the whole quilt in my lap.   Just my quirkiness!  So, I'll do the side borders and then sew them on so I can get a good placement of the vines in the corners.

Before I send you over to the other construction sites, I wanted to let you know that we have an injured neighbor.   Jocelyn fell and broke her wrist last month and had to have surgery.   It was an especially bad break and she hasn't been able to sew AT ALL!   Can you imagine?   I'd go nutzo!   So, head on over and wish her a speedy recovery.    Take care Jocelyn!

Paulette has some fun show and tell for you so don't miss her post.

Shazy, Patti, Carrie, Deb and Sandy R have all been busy.

And get this...Anna has said that she is going to catch up to us in time for the Grand Finale next month!  Do you believe that? Well, stay tuned!  Move in day is February 15th!

Country Homecoming

Before I post the pictures of our blocks, I just have to say that words can't describe my shock and sadness at the horrific event in Newtown, CT.   My heart hurts for the victims and their loved ones.  It is unimaginable to think that someone would want to take our children from us.   I just want to run to Seattle and hang on to these two and never let go.

Well, it's the 15th and that means it's time to post our construction progress.   A few of the "neighbors" seem to be on vacation this month (Hawaii?)  but hopefully we'll see them next month when we start putting it all  together.   But, we are welcoming a NEW neighbor who decided to move in.   Say hi to Shazy!   We are thrilled that you are joining us.

Here are Sandy's blocks (again...she's a "no blog")

And these are mine...I still need to embroider the panes on the windows.

Hello?.....all 12 blocks are done.  Can I get a Woo Hoo?

Yesterday I was out running errands all day long and when I picked up the mail, there was a package from Paulette.   Now, what in the heck was she sending me?

Check out the pretty paper and that adorable ornament!

And the cute message she wrote on the card. Looks like the Boss gets a Christmas gift.   :)

Look what she made!   Isn't this the cutest candle mat you've ever seen?    She had shown some projects on her blog yesterday and I even commented that whoever was getting one was a lucky recipient..   Who would have thought that I was one of them?    I was so delighted I could hardly contain myself.

She showed it on her blog with a darling star candle holder, so I immediately went thru everything I had to find one so it would look just like hers.    I think I need to look at some thrift stores to find one exactly like she found.

Thank you so much Paulette.  You truly are a "Sweet P"

Now go visit the other bloggers to see what kind of construction they've been up to.
Paulette, Patti, Shazy, and Carrie.  (See?  we've lost a few this month)

More Construction

Once we decided to speed up the number of houses we were making, the inspiration returned to get this quilt finished!

Here's are Sandy's (no blog)

And mine...

The neighborhood is really taking shape!  I've decided that I'm going to embroider the window panes on all the windows.  I did a few of the houses this month, so will just plug along until I get them all done.   I think it really adds to the look.   Also, if you remember, I was kind of upset with myself for making so many of the windows dark.  I think that by adding the panes it gives them a bit more "life".  (We'll just pretend that the owners are sleeping).

I thought I'd throw in these last 2 pictures to keep the inspiration going...

Now,

Now, head on over to see what the rest of the contractors have been up to.

Come back next month on the 15th for the reveal of all 12 blocks.   (Not put together tho..don't get excited!)

Country Homecoming speeding up!

Well, I was motivated for about a minute after the last post.    Paulette and I were "chatting" and I was telling her how these blocks are weighing me down and how I'm struggling with them so much.   She suggested that we speed up the process and make more than one house per month.

So, after "talking" with all the other bloggers, we decided to start showing 2 blocks per month and that way we will be finished with all 12 houses by December and can start on the borders.   That definitely helped me resume some semblance of excitement about this quilt.  I know I'm going to love it when it's done, it's just getting to that point that I'm having trouble with.    That's why a quilt-a-long is a good thing.   I KNOW that this would have ended up as another UFO if we weren't doing it as a group.

Soooo, on with the show.

Here are Sandy's (no blog) houses.

And these are mine.

And progress so far.

Anna didn't get hers finished so next month she'll be showing you TEN blocks, right Anna?

Head on over to the other contractors who are madly building away.

Paulette, Sandy R, Patty, Jocelyn, Carrie, and Deb.

See you next month for another unveiling.

Country Homecoming Block 6

Hey, we're half way finished!  Not bad.   We were going to post our progress earlier this week, but I got a new laptop (joined the 21st Century) and The Geek Squad had the new one in addition to the old one at the shop transferring all the data.   I really felt lost without a computer for 5 days.  Whew!  So glad to be back in touch.

I won't be showing Anna's block because she's trotting all over Europe on a quilt trip.  So far her blog makes it sound more like they are on a wine tasting trip... (Do I sound bitter?)  Anyway, hopefully she'll have blocks to share with us next month.

This is Sandy's (no blog).  I really like all the arches over the windows.

Here's mine.   If you read last month's post, you might remember that I was feeling that my windows were quite dark.   I'm making a concerted effort to lighten up the rooms.

Here are all 6 together.    I just got fabric for the sashing and borders and was going to start sewing the rows together, but after looking at all the blocks together, I'm thinking I might wait until all 12 are finished to be sure I like the arrangement.

Right after we started this quilt-a-long, I got a comment from Jeanette letting me know that we were going to have fun doing this quilt.  She had made it and just loved it.   I asked her to send me a picture and she sent this one a few weeks ago.

Isn't it gorgeous?   Looks like it belongs in a magazine.    I have to say that seeing her picture inspired me to keep plugging along.    Thanks Jeanette!

Now head on over to see what the others in the group have constructed.

Paulette, Sandy R, Patti, Jocelyn, Carrie, and Deb.

Country Homecoming Block 5

Summer is definitely the time for construction and our little quilt-a-long is doing its part to help the housing recovery.

First up, Anna's home.

And Sandy (no blog)'s...

And last, but not least...mine.

And this is my neighborhood so far.     I noticed, when I put all the blocks together, that I really like a lot of windows.  Guess that explains my need for light and bright rooms.   Looks like I better get creative on the next ones.   LOL.

Thought I'd show you a sunset we had last week over the neighborhood.   It was just spectacular.   We really have the best sunset shows here in Central Oregon.

So, now head on over to see what Paulette, Sandy R, Patti, Jocelyn, Carrie and Deb have been working on.

Hugs, Anne
