Concentrate

Do you remember when I showed you this

Latest projects 021

And told you I was going to be putting it in this frame?

Latest projects 034

Well….   I was on the phone and cutting it to size at the same time.    Not a good idea.   I cut it too small so now it’s been repurposed.

Looks like I’ve got to find another project for the frame.   Arghhhhh

The pattern is from Primitive Stitches and is called “Live Simply”

Let there be light

We got the Solatubes installed this week and what a difference it makes.

It has made such a huge difference.   In fact, when we walk thru the room, we now have a tendency to want to turn off a light.

(See the table on the wall on the right?   The Buggy Barn quilt from the last post is going to go on that wall.  Can’t wait)

This is what the tubes look like.

I think they are very unobtrusive and the best way to describe them is to say they look like large can lights.

Note:  No flash was used and no Photoshop editing was done.  I don’t even know how…LOL

Off to the quilter we go!

I got 2 major quilts finished this week.

DSC_1098

This one is called Folk Art Blooms and it’s by the talented ladies at the Buggy Barn.    I saw the quilt hanging in their booth at market and it stopped me dead in my tracks.

It measures 87” x 87”.   Hard to get a picture of the whole quilt.   This one will hang in our entry way.

I also finished the Autumn Quilt from Heart to Hand patterns.

It feels so good to have these 2 rather large quilts finally finished.

Now it’s off to the quilter they go!

Some painting

Around 25 years ago, my father made us this corner cabinet.   I love it and the fact that he made it makes it all that more special.
Latest projects 018
After moving into the new house, Mr. CnW and I both felt it needed “something”.  So, last week, we emptied it out and Mr. CnW painted it.
DSC_1095
I love the way it looks now.  It feels like it’s always been black and belongs in the room.

I took these pictures without a flash for a couple of reasons.   #1.  To show you how dark the room is.   #2. To compare it with what it’s going to look like after we have 2 Solatubes put in this week.

The dining room is in the center of the house and is “landlocked”, meaning, it has no windows.   The darkness has been driving me crazy because I like lots of light coming in.    So….I’ll be sure and take pictures of the “after” later in the week so we can contrast and compare.  (That sounds like we’re taking an essay test…LOL)

Mojo–part 3

If these next 3 posts seem a bit disjointed it’s because I’m having a terrible time with blogger. When I try to post, using Windows Live Writer, it doesn’t like the amount of pictures I’m posting and just crashes during the upload. Also, the blogs on my sidebar aren't updating automatically like they used to and I can't add or delete blogs on my sidebar. Can you hear me grumbling? If you’ve had the same issues and have managed to fix them, PLEASE let me know.

Okay….on the with rest of the show.

I love my hand stitching at night and worked on getting this Valentine goody finished in time for February.

It’s from Primitive Stitches. I just love her patterns.

Latest projects 034

My friend, Patty, got the frame for me when she visited Primitive Gatherings last summer. I’ve been rotating the stitchery designs in the frame. Next up will be this one which I just finished.

Latest projects 021

My buddy, Karen, at My Red Farmhouse has a selling blog, The Primitive Thread where she offers darling projects a couple times a month. (She’s just scaling back a bit and I think she’s decided to post them on the first and third Wednesday of the month). Make sure you check them out because they are cute and do-able. And VERY reasonably priced.

Anyway, when she posted this next project, I realized I had the pattern already and I certainly have the cottons and wool (get it? Cottons n Wool? Hehe) to make my own. So, thanks Karen for the motivation.

The pattern is from Lori Smith as part of her Quilted Pictures designs.

Right now I’m working on the “Autumn Quilt” from Heart to Hand. I just need to applique some wool on the borders and this baby will be finally finished!

And finally….when I was in full force organizing mode, I came across a cross-stitch project that I had started quite a few years ago. It was more than 1/2 finished, so I decided it needed to be completed.

It’s called “Button up your Overcoat” by 4 my Boys designs. Not sure if it’s still in print. (that’s how long ago I started this puppy)! All it needs is a frame and voila…another completion!

I’ve got one more project in the works but you’re gonna have to wait to see it till I’m finished with all the applique.

Mojo–part 2

While at my Woolies group, Sandy (no blog) had just gotten this sheep in the mail from Ravenwood Whimzies’s etsy shop. When she showed us the blankets she was making for it from Buttermilk Basin, I knew I needed to join her in her fun. There are 12 blankets to make. One for each month.

This is January…

And February….

I also joined in on the fun while Temecula Quilt Company had their “12 Days of Christmas” quilt-a-long. Each day was a new block and each block had that many pieces in it. Did that make sense? In other words, day 1 was one piece of fabric, day 2 had 2 pieces, and so on.

I still need to quilt mine, but I think I have time, don’t you? Now watch, next Christmas will find me scrambling to get it quilted in time. I should just do it now and be done with it!

My Mojo’s back

I know I told you I was going to post the last of the Christmas shops I went to over the holidays, but at this point, I doubt if anyone is really too interested in Christmas. So….I’ll make sure and do it in the fall when it will be more exciting.

I’m loving my nest and all the organizing I’ve done. It’s so nice to be able to finally find things and know exactly where to go to get the next project to work on.

Here’s what I’ve been doing for the past few months.

I finally got this project quilted. The pattern is “Glory Bound” from Bonnie Blue Quilts.

003-001

I bought a “blanket crane” online from Small Town Primitives and hung it on the wall going up (or down) the stairs.

DSC_1078

I also got “Summertime” quilted. It was a block of the week from Primitive Gatherings a few summers ago.

DSC_1086

Another one that finally got quited is my “Wool Garden” from Waltzing with Bears. You might remember this quilt from my wool tutorial which you can access on the sidebar.

During the holidays, Country Loft posted pictures on their blog of their Christmas open house. While scrutinizing the pictures with a magnifying glass, LOL, I saw this kit available. I quickly called the shop and JoAnn Mullaly, the designer, answered the phone. It was so fun to talk to her. I just love her primitive style.

I think I’ll make it up into a pillow.
