Fit to Frame challenge #2

It’s time again to post pictures from the challenge that Karen, aka, My Yellow Farmhouse, Sandy (no blog) and I are doing with a Lori Smith, From my heart to your hands pattern, called Fit to Frame #6.

We are doing 3 blocks per month, so here are blocks 4 – 6.

First up are Sandy’s.

and these are mine…

this is the progress so far.

and here’s what it will look like in 2 more months.

Definitely worth it!   I’m not sure if I’m going to frame it or just make it a small wall hanging.  Am thinking that if I put a small sashing in between the blocks, it will have a windowpane look to it.   Lots of time to decide.

Now head on over to Karen’s blog and see what she’s done with the blocks.   Sandy and I are using wool applique on cotton backgrounds.  I think Karen is combining wool and cotton on her applique pieces.

Wishing everyone a very happy Easter!  I hope you get to spend it with your family and friends.

A challenge accepted

Before the holidays started last year, Karen and I were talking and she asked me if I wanted to do a challenge with her in the upcoming year.   Another monthly project?  Hmm, why not?   After finally deciding on the pattern, we thought it would be fun to include Sandy “no blog” in our challenge.  She’s always up for making something new…   So began our journey.

We decided on a pattern by Lori Smith of “From my heart to your hands”, called Fit to Frame #6.

No rules….just get er done!  We decided on 3 blocks per month so that it wouldn’t be hanging on for a whole year.   After all, they are only 6 inch blocks.  Very doable in a month.

Sandy and I both decided (independently of one another) to do cotton backgrounds with wool applique.

This one is Sandy’s…

and here’s mine.

So… we’ll be posting our progress around the first of each month for the next 4 months.    We will also be posting on Instagram if you want to follow us there.    @cottonsnwool and @sfeigner.   Hope you enjoy our journey.

Now head on over to Karen’s blog and see how she decided to make hers up.   It’s always fun to see how different people can take the same pattern and put their own personal style to it.

That’s it from my neck of the woods.  We had a little snow over the weekend, but certainly not enough to bring our snowfall total up to where it should be.   It’s been nice having such mild weather this winter, but we might be paying for it this summer in the form of forest fires.   Not a good thing.  I’m sure the people on the east coast of the USA would love to send us some of their snow.  Wow, they’ve been walloped!   We will be going to Boston in Sept.   Do you think their snow will be melted by then?  LOL

Aunt Maggie and some mats

Way back when, like in the Spring, when I was blogging, I was showing you pictures of blocks that Sandy No Blog and I were doing as a challenge.  The pattern is Aunt Maggie's Patchwork Quilt by Lori Smith of "From my Heart to your Hands".

When I plugged my sewing machine in after the long hiatus, Sandy and I decided to power sew and get 'er finished.   We both used fabrics that were in our stash.  It sure feels good to do that.

Here is Sandy's.

This one is mine.

We started our next challenge around the same time as when we were putting the quilt together.   We are making the "By thy Hand" little quilts by Buttermilk Basin.

Sandy changed the design of the wool section to add wheat.

I chose to do mine just like the pattern.

This is the August mat and I have mine sitting on my library table with a little candle on it.

I never heard back from Peggy about her win last week, and she was a "no reply" commenter, so I have no way to contact her.  Therefore, I've chosen another winner.    This time it's Hannah F who posted on Sept 7 at 11:24 am.     Hannah, email me your address and I'll send you your goodies.

Wow, this was a short post for me!

Have a great week and I'll talk to ya soon.

Hugs, Anne
