September show and tell - Part 2

I hope some of you were able to join us on Instagram.  There are lots of inspiring quilts, crafts and decorating.  You might get some good ideas.

On to Part 2.

These are all mine.   Remember, this is 2 months worth. (wink)

This quilt by Geoff's Mom called "In the Meadow" is one that I did as a Block of the Month from my local quilt shop.    It was a UFO, so I got it all finished up this year and off to the quilter.   Now it's a ready for Christmas decorating.

Another quilt by Quilts by Cheri. called "Pumpkin Patch"

This was a kit that I got a couple of years ago called "Country 9 Patch"

I made this scarecrow from a pattern called "Cooper"
by Homespun from the Heart.   It was an e-pattern that I found on etsy.

I really love these wall hangings for outside on my entryway.
This one is called "Trick or Treat" from Cottage Creek Quilts

A quick and easy wool project from My Red Door Designs
called " Harvest Time"

This next little one is called "Autumn Fest" by Chestnut Junction.
(Sandy made me the little scarecrow on the masher - cute, huh?)

I also made "Hocus the Halloween Cat" by Briar Root Primitives.
I thought my kitty (Jack) might become friends with Hocus, but no such luck!

And my Sept Indygo Junction block.    Still have 2 left to do.

I'm almost finished with a year of these darling little hanging quilts
from Buttermilk Basin called "Sew Simple BOM".
This is October.

and November

This is another e-pattern that I found on Etsy.
I can't find the pattern right now to give you the name.
It's a fun way to play with those old mattress springs you're seeing in all the antique stores.

Another wonderful design by Cheri called "Liberty Baskets"
I don't have much in the way of patriotic quilts, and loved this one when I saw the pattern.

Last but not least, another pattern from My Red Door Designs
called "Pumpkin Harvest".  I picked up the frame at a craft store.

Well, that's it.  I'm so glad to be caught up.
October looks to be a very busy month for me, so I'm not sure how much I'm going to get accomplished but I'm sure the other gals at Woolies will have lots to share this month.

Happy Fall Y'all.

Hugs, Anne

November Sewing with Sandy

It’s time for our November show ‘n tell.   We managed to get all the projects finished in time for our Woolie gathering last week.   (Not sure what will happen with our December projects…I’m feeling some stress!)

I chose the projects for this month.    Let’s start with the one from the book “101 Fabulous Small Quilts”.   The name of the quilt is Scrap Squares.   It’s super simple and really fast.

Here’s Sandy’s.

IMG_2920

And mine…  I never got a full picture of it before I started decorating, so here’s where it is in the house.

IMG_2927

Next up is a stitchery pattern by Chestnut Junction called “P is for Pumpkin”.   We both chose to add some wool to it.  This is Sandy’s.

IMG_2914

And here’s mine.    I bought a kit from Karen at Farmhouse Woolens, so needless to say, I didn’t have to think about a thing.   Love the border and binding fabrics she chose for the kits.

IMG_2931

This next project is by Cottage Creek Quilts called “Winter Blessings”.   Sandy made her snowman just like the pattern.

IMG_2917

I got the kit from Karen and she had joined the snowman body pieces together, so I did too.   This will be the banner I hang in the outside entry for most of the winter.

IMG_2946

We started a new series by Buttermilk Basin called “Basin Banners Thru the Year”.   This is the one for January.

And another project from Buttermilk Basin is this little pillow in Stacy’s “Patchwork Pillows thru the year” series.   This is the one for December.

Sandy chose this pretty teal fabric because she said she’s going to use it in her mercury glass display.   So pretty.

IMG_2919

This is mine and I have it in my nest.

Can you believe it’s already December 1st?   I’m just finishing up my decorating so will be showing it to you soon.

I also went on a quilt shop hop last month with my Calif BFF’s and will show you some of the shops we visited.   We had a great time.  The weather was perfect and the company even better.

Till next time…

July sewing with Sandy

I know I’m a little late with this post, but this time I really do have a good excuse.   Sandy’s mom passed away unexpectedly last month, so her world was turned upside down.   All of us who have been through this know that there is so much that needs to be done and quilting just kind of takes a back seat (as it should).

Being the super woman that she is though, she got all the projects finished for our show and tell at Woolies last Tuesday.

We both feel we bit off a lot with 7 projects.   It would be easier to handle 7 in the winter, so we’ve cut the next few months to only 4 projects.   Much more manageable.

On with the show…

I chose all of the projects for July.   First up is another little quilt from the book “101 Fabulous Small Quilts”.   It’s called “Star Medallion”

Here’s Sandy’s…

And here’s mine.

This next banner is from the Summer 2014 issue of “Primitive Quilts and Projects” magazine.   It’s called “Hearts and Stripes Forever” by Diane Knott.

This is Sandy’s…

IMG_2192

And I’m hanging mine on our front porch.

IMG_2153

And it looks like one banner wasn’t enough for us, so we made the next one from a pattern by “Cottage Creek Quilts” called “Family, Home, Friends”.

Sandy’s…

Mine…

Up next is the last Buttermilk Basin monthly BOM called “By thy Hands.

And we always have a Christmas project, so this one is by The Woolen Willow, called “Snowtime”.

Another little Christmas project is this next one by Plum Pudding called “Glory Be”.

And last, but not least, is another little Buttermilk Basin project called “Half Pints” (August).

This is where I put mine.

So, that’s it for July.    Our plan is to have our August projects finished by this coming Tuesday, so stay tuned.   I should be able to post the pictures before the end of the month and that will catch us up.

Thanks to all of you who let me know I hadn’t posted July projects.  It’s nice to know you’re keeping me in line!   LOL

See ya soon,

Hugs, Anne

April Sewing with Sandy

Sorry I’m a bit late with this recap of our projects.  No real excuse.   I guess I’m just out of the habit of blogging for some reason. Anyway, here’s the show.
This month Sandy picked the projects for us to do.
Again, first up is the April Buttermilk Basin “By Thy Hands BOM”.
This is Sandy’s.
IMG_1813
And here’s mine.
IMG_1719
Thought I’d show where I put it in the house.
IMG_1818
Our stitchery project for the month was called “Frosty Freddie Candle Mat” by Primitive Stitches.
Here are all of them together.   Sandy made the the top 2 and I made the bottom one.
IMG_1812
And a little staged photo of mine.   (wow, looks kiinda stark in this picture.   I think it needs a little quilt under it.)
DSCN0268
Then Sandy decided on “Never Leave the table before the other guests” from the book “101 Fabulous Small Quilts”
She did hers just like the pattern.
IMG_1815
I decided I wanted less of a scrappy look for mine.  (It kind of makes your eyes go crazy seeing movement where there isn’t any.  LOL)
IMG_1718
Looks better when it’s surrounded by other things.
IMG_1819
The wool project chosen was "Flying Santa Pillow” by Aunt Sanny.   This is Sandy’s…
IMG_1817
And here’s mine.
DSCN0264
We threw in this little snowman mat because it looked so simple and easy.   In fact, it’s so simple and easy that Sandy made 3.  Hers are the top ones and mine is on the bottom right.   The pattern is by Buttermilk Basin called “Sew Simple BOM” and it’s the January block.   Sandy “claims” she did so many because she had orphan blocks laying around the house.   Sure, Sandy!
IMG_1811
I filled mine with crushed walnut shells, so it can either be a pincushion or a little pillow to set out.
DSCN0266
Last fall, we went to a really cute shop in Independence, OR, Ladies of Liberty, and saw this little wall hanging.  We both fell in love with it, so it got added to the list too.   (I have long overdue pictures of the shop to share with you soon).
The pattern is called “My Little Baskets” by Primitive Patchworks.
Sandy chose to do hers in all cotton...
IMG_1816
And I did mine in Cottons n Wool!   (get it?)
IMG_1721
I had recently picked up this little quilt rack (18”) and lo and behold…this one fit perfectly.   (Don’t you just love the modern technology next to our quilts….geesh)
DSCN0269
This next one was left over from our March projects.  We told ourselves that if something didn’t get done in time for our reveal, no big deal…we’d just show it some other time.
So, this one is called “A Good Night” by Designs by Cheri.
First up is Sandy’s
IMG_1809
And mine.
DSCN0176
And then… trying to finish up some UFO’s, I managed to get this one quilted and hanging in our outside entry.   The pattern is “Simply Spring” by Cottage Creek Quilts.
I’m beginning to feel much more comfortable quilting these little ones myself.   In fact, I’m taking a Freemotion Quilting class on Saturday.   Can you imagine how much it would cost me to have someone quilt all of these little projects?   I’ll still send out the big ones, but will try to do the smaller ones myself.
DSCN0272
And last up…I managed to squeeze in this cute little pillow called “Spring Has Sprung” by Lily Anna Stitches.    I saw it made up when I was staying at Patty’s house in Calif in March.   She generously loaned me the pattern and… voila.   Another fast and easy project finished for Spring.
IMG_1748
That’s it for April.   Sorry to be a day late (and always a dollar short).   LOL
Next Monday is the yearly reveal for our challenge block for my stitching group, Material Girls.   The block that was chosen was the Dresden Plate.    It will be fun to see what everyone came up with.  It’s a fun time and I promise to be back with pictures.
Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs, Anne
