A couple of winners!

Hey everyone. Thank so much for all your descriptions of how you store your patterns.    I think I found myself in every one of your answers.   I have way too many storage spots.   Here are some pictures to prove it.

I found this cute little drawer at an antique shop and knew it needed patterns in it.  There's another one to the right of it, and of course, all the patterns printed off the internet on the left.

This box of patterns is on my cutting table along with some that I'm currently working on.

And then in one bookcase, there are binders of patterns.

Another smaller bookcase.  With. More. Patterns.!

And in my closet I have these plastic bins with more patterns.

And in the storage room right off my sewing room, even MORE!

And binders too.   Not even labeled, so who knows what's in them!

So, I think you can see my dilemma.   Right now, I've decided to organize them by season.  Here is the first bin which has my Fall patterns.    Somehow I have to get this under control   Good grief!

So, as I promised, we have 2 winners.   The first one is Tina, who posted on Sept 1 at 6:30pm.  The second winner comes from my emails.   I was surprised at how many of you replied directly there letting me know you aren't Google subscribers. So I thought it only fitting that you were entered in the giveaway too.    That winner is Barb.    I will contact you both and get your patterns off to you.

Thanks again for all the wonderful suggestions.  I read each and every one of them and got tons of great ideas.

August show and tell

First of all, I want to thank all of you who left me some really wonderful comments last month.   To tell you I appreciated them would be an understatement.   I just wasn't sure if people are even reading blogs much anymore.  I know I am not as diligent about keeping up as I used to be.   Anyway, thank you so much and I promise to continue blogging...at least with show and tell.

So, here we go for August.   We had company last week so didn't think I'd be going to Woolies, but at the last minute the family's plans changed and I was able to go.  Needless to say, I was rushing to get there and forgot my own show and tell, so will save that for next month.

Leslie made this little cutie.   Once again, she's hiding behind her creation.   I'm gonna sneak a picture of her sometime when she's not looking.  LOL

Nancy made this from a pattern by Bonnie Sullivan of All through the Night.
Her kitty's name is Magic.

Sue brought this one but she couldn't remember the pattern name.

Jean continues with these blocks.
You can check out the previous blog posts for other ones she's been working on.

Mari made this one.
She thinks it's a Kim Diehl pattern but couldn't remember the name.

And this one was inspired by a Kansas Troubles pattern.
Check out the little houses in the centers of the stars.

This is the pattern, so you can see how much she changed it up.

That's all for August.
Our prolific Sandy wasn't there to show us her finishes, so I'm sure September will be quite a show.

So, if you made it this far, you can see there are two Buttermilk Basin patterns in the next photo.  Well, the generous Stacy West sent me these to give away to you.   How sweet is that?

All I need from you is a question answered.   How do you organize all your patterns?  By designer?  Type of medium?  Seasonal?    I'm looking for some ideas to help me out.   When I'm looking for a pattern that I'm sure I have, I have to look everywhere.  There has to be a solution to this madness.

(Be sure to leave your email address if you know you are a "no reply" commenter.)

So, I'll pick two winners on Tuesday the 6th!  (US only, please)

Happy Labor Day weekend to all of you in the USA.
To all the rest, enjoy your weekend.

Hugs, Anne

June sewing with Sandy and some winners!

Things are heating up here.  It’s supposed to be in the 100’s the next few days.   Ugh is all I have to say about that!  (At least it’s a “dry” heat)  LOL

I picked the projects for June and here they are…

As always, Sandy’s are first and mine are second.  (I guess that’s obvious since there are only two of us).  Geesh, the heat is already getting to me.   Tee Hee.

First up is the continuing series of “Basin Banners Thru the Year” by Buttermilk Basin.  This one is for August.

This tiny quilt is from Red Button Quilt Co and it’s called “Little Red Six”.   It measures 12” x 14”.   Sandy used buttons on the borders.

I made tiny little yo yos.

IMG_4401

This little snowman quilt is from Quilts by Cheri.  It’s called “Snowman Quilt”.   I think it’s one of my favorites that we’ve made.

This one is in the Summer 2014 issue of Primitive Quilts and Projects.   It’s by Plays with Wool and is called “Berry Time”.

Sandy made her frame.  Quite the talented gal!

I decided to make mine into a pillow.   (I’m running out of wall space)!

And finally, another little quilt from 101 Fabulous Small Quilts.   This one is called “Civil War Baskets”.  Actually, this one is a carry over from last month so Sandy chose it.

And my little Jack just had to be in the picture!

Sewing the Seasons = Wendy

Seasonal Flags = Lori.

Congratulations to the winners.

I will email each of you for your address.

Thanks again to  Stacy for the very generous giveaway!

See you next month!  Stay cool out there.

Winner winner chicken dinner!

There were quite a few of you who picked my project correctly, but only 2 people also picked the one that got the most votes by our group.

This was mine….  #2

So…..drumroll please!

The winners are Loris and Janet.   Please email me your address and I’ll get your prize to you.

Thanks for playing along with my little “game”.   It was fun seeing what your guesses were.

Next year’s challenge is “Baskets”.  A whole year to mull it over!

Dresden challenge and a Giveaway

Yesterday was the annual challenge at my Monday sewing group, Material Girls.   The block that was picked this year was the Dresden Plate.    The only rules to the challenge were that there had to be one complete “traditional” Dresden plate in the project, and the maker of the project had to also do the quilting.

My challenge to you is to guess which block is mine and, for an added bonus, guess which one got the most votes.   The giveaway items will be at the bottom of the post.

For a second opportunity to win…head on over to Anna’s Woolie Mammoth blog and guess which one she did.   She has put together a cute giveaway too.

On with the show.    I’m showing these in the number order in which they were on display so there’s no favoritism going on.   LOL

The number will be above the project.  Or you can describe it in your answer.

Happy Labor Day!

Hi, Remember me?    Wow, where did summer go?   We were really busy with family and friends and just enjoying the wonderful weather we had.   Our backyard is taking shape so we spent a lot of time just sitting on the patio doing "nothing". Add a couple of trips in there and boom....it's September!

Thanks to all of you who emailed me to make sure things were okay here.   I really appreciate all of you.   While I didn't get to many blogs this summer, I was thinking about you.

Not only was I not blogging this summer, I also wasn't doing any sewing!   Blasphemy!   I didn't realize how much I hadn't done until one day mid August when I noticed that my sewing machine was unplugged.  It had been unplugged since the middle of June when we had a lightening storm.   But....I think I have my mojo back and have actually finished up 2 quilts that were in the making last spring.   I'll be sharing those with you very soon.

Now...on to the giveaway I promised you so very long ago.

Stacy West of Buttermilk Basin had a wonderful booth at Quilt Market in May.   70, yes, SEVENTY, new designs.   Don't know how she does it all.    Anyway, she generously offered some patterns for a giveaway.   I've also added some patterns and a little wool too!

On with the show.

I love anything "red" and with embroidery too. Wow, what a combo!

These next few pics are of "A Year in Stitches"   These are the 12 patterns that Stacy donated for the giveaway.   Check out how many different ways you could incorporate them into your own style.

Darling pillow project.

Sorry, this picture is out of order and I can't seem to move it up one!   Geesh, you can tell how long I've been away...  Anyway, you could really use your imagination here and work these designs up into something really cute!

This "Live Simply" series of patterns is so cute.  First, you make the main design and then add the monthly little mats to the center of the background.   So dang cute!

Who doesn't love gingerbread men?

These little mats combine cottons n wool.  (What could be better)    :)

And if cottons n wool isn't your cuppa tea, how about some cotton and embroidery?

Darling little star pillows to add to your holiday decorating.

Here's the gang having lots of laughs.   That's Stacy on the left, then me, Karen, and Sandy (no blog).   Not sure where Anna was.  She must have taken the picture.

Oops, again...out of order.   Do you know how long this post is taking me?   That will teach me to be away so long!

Anyway, these are really cute little designs that can be used in numerous ways.    Mats, pincushions, or hanging on the new smaller version of the wire stand.  See the little snowman in the upper right?   Well, that pattern is part of the giveaway too!

As you can see, I didn't get pictures of all 70 designs, so you'll need to head on over to Stacy's website and check everything out.   She just told me that she's been designing like crazy and will have MORE new designs shortly.   Good grief, does she ever sleep?

So, thanks for hanging in there for the good stuff.    This is the giveaway.   There are the 12 patterns for the calendar series, the little snowman pattern, and then I've thrown in the 12 patterns for the "Wool & Needle Handwork Series BOM".  (These are the ones that I was been blogging about, way back when.  The ones that our Woolies group has been working on).  I'm finished with all of mine, so thought I'd share the patterns with you.   Also, I've thrown in a little bundle of wool!

Whew....now that I've finally reached the end, just tell me what Fall TV shows you're excited to see.  New or old. For me, it's "The Following".  So suspenseful.   Oh, and I can't even tell you how glad I am to see the new judges on American Idol.  I have to say that I couldn't even bear to watch last season with Nikki and Mariah.  (Randy was never a favorite either)  Go, J Lo, Keith and Harry!

I'll do the giveaway this week, so that means you'll be hearing from me again, really soon!   :)

Hugs, Anne
