February Show and Tell

Now that the snow is slowly melting, we find that getting together with our groups of girlfriends is extremely important.   Woolies on Tuesday was back to normal and a fun gathering.   Lots to show.

First up is Mari's beautiful quilt from Geoff's Mom Pattern Co.   Wow, that's a lot of work!!!

The next ones are all from our prolific Sandy!   

This is her version of Buttermilk Basin's Mystery Quilt from 2016.

Don't you just love how she finished it?   So clever. 

This is one that she did from a sew a long with Cheri on Cheri's Facebook Page.

This one is from a pattern by JoAnn Mullaly.   Sandy must have made multiples because I was the lucky recipient of one for Christmas.  Thanks, Sandy!

Cute pillow from Wooden Spool Designs called "Follow your Heart".  

And another darling pillow from Briar Root Primitives called "The Good Heart".  

You can find the pattern in the Winter 2016 magazine, "Simply Vintage".  

And last, but not least, is a cute bunny from Buttermilk Basin called "Primitive Peter". 

Sandy made hers 50% smaller than the original to put in a cute display.   If you follow her on instagram you can see all of her beautiful decorating. She's @sfeigner.  

Next up are mine.    Lately I've been wanting to do some cross stitch.  Getting back to the old days.   Only problem is that my eyes aren't like the old days.   Yikes those holes are small.   I'm wearing "Mag Eyes" and really look rather ridiculous.  Oh well, it gets the job done.   

This pattern is called "Valentine Bird" by Heart in Hand.

This is a cute little wall hanging called "Generous and Content" by Cheri.   

And pillows by Cheri called "Valentine Bowl Fillers".  

This is a cute little pillow that I made for a friend from  Buttermilk Basin called "Simply Words BOM-May".  I filled it with crushed walnuts and made it into a pin cushion.   

I was helping Karen  with some samples that she's putting in her Etsy shop.   I loved how this one turned out so made myself one too!   She will be offering kits soon so check it out.  

Pattern is by Red Button Quilt Co, called "Midnight Blooms".  

And if you've been following along with all the show and tell over the months, you know that I've been working on a 12 month series of little quilts from Indygo Junction. Finally, this is the last one!   It's called "June". I'm so glad to finally have them all finished!   Woo Hoo.   

And since I finished up that 12 month series, why not start another one?  

(Am I nuts?  Don't answer that!)

So another month has come and gone with show and tell.   Hope you are enjoying all the fun projects.  

Our snow is almost all melted and we are in countdown for Spring to begin.  Although, Spring in Central Oregon is quite iffy.  Sun one day, snow the next.   At least we can get around now though.

Just in time.

Nothing like waiting till the very last minute to get the May show and tell projects up on the blog.  

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.   It feels good to know this is the unofficial start to the summer season.   Our town will begin to see throngs of vacationers who will increase our summer population by as much as 20,000.  It's great for the economy, but not so great for traffic and restaurant reservations!   But, I guess it's what you live with when you're in a vacation destination community.   For those of you who are new to the blog, I live in Central Oregon in the wonderful town of Bend.  

On to the show.

Nancy finished two projects.   The first one a monthly by Buttermilk Basin. If it doesn't look like one you've seen before it's because Nancy always puts her "spin" on patterns.  Cute, huh?

She made this quilt for friends who have a black leather sofa.  Won't it look pretty?  Sorry, I don't have the pattern name.

Linda continues making blocks for her Halloween quilt by Buttermilk Basin.

Looks like Leslie is a bit camera shy, but she sure has a cute haircut.  LOL  

Again, I don't have the name of the pattern for her patriotic pillow, but she finished it just in time for the summer season. 

This one is a variation of the Row by Row runner from Sewing Seeds Quilt Shop in New Ulm, MN.   After she saw mine, she ordered the kit and did her own thing.   

Lori T is new to our Woolies group and she started her journey using Sue Spargo's stitches book.  What a great way to learn new stitches.

Jean  is also new to the Woolies group and check out her first projects.   I'd say she's got the wool talent for sure.   She's finished these 4 blocks in no time at all.  

They are all out of this book.  

Sue is a huge contributor to the Quilts of Valor program.  These are her two latest finishes.

Sandy managed to whip up a few finishes (again) this month.   First up is "Liberty Baskets" by Quilts by Cheri.   It's on my to do list and after seeing hers...it's moved up to the top of the list.  

This little mat is an original by Sandy.  She made 3 of them.  One for me, one for Karen, and one for herself.   Nice to have talented friends, huh?   (She also included the house and candle in the gift). Thank you Sandy.   

This wonderful quilt is called "Saltbox Sampler" by Under the Garden Moon.   I'm also working on this one but still have the borders to finish.   Love it. 

This little one was a kit she bought at Something to Crow About quilt shop in Springfield, OR.

And her last finish in May is the Indygo Junction monthly from the Folk Quilt of the Month series.  It's the one for November.  

I'm also working on the monthlies and I managed to finish up January 

And Dec. 

This next little one is #5 in the Kindred Spirits Club from the ladies at Yellowcreek Quilt Designs.  I've really enjoyed making these small quilts.   When I get them all finished, I'll take a picture of all of them together so you can see how fun they are.  

When I was in California a couple of years ago, we went to Country Loft quilt shop (which is closing soon.  Boo Hoo).   I picked up the pattern for this stitchery quilt by JoAnn Mullaly called "Joy of Christmas"

And last, but not least, here is another little "Sew Simple BOM" from Buttermilk Basin.   It's the one for July.

February sewing with Sandy

It’s that time again to share the projects that Sandy (no blog) and I worked on in February. 

This month Sandy chose all the projects.  

We continued working on our BOM Buttermilk Basin little mats called “By thy Hands”

This one is mine.

And here it is with my candle holder.

This is Sandy’s.  She had already made the February one and called it December’s, so she made up her own design.  Cute, huh?

Next up is a pattern from Lisa Bongean when she used to be known as “Backyard Quilts”.  It’s from the book “All things Primitive”.   The name of the pattern is Holly & Hearts Wool Pillow.  

This one is mine. I got the frame at Michael's.

Sandy is making her own frame but didn’t quite get it finished.  More on that later!

This pillow design is by JoAnn Mullaly from her book “Folk Branches”.   It’s called the Heart Branch pillow.

As I said last month, we are making quilts from the “101 Fabulous Quilts” book.   This month we chose “Nine Patch Nostalgia”.

And Sandy’s…

We are always on the lookout for freebie patterns on the internet.   This one comes from Pleasantree’s blog.  It only measures 11” x 15” and is so adorable.   This one is mine.

Sandy decided to make hers a bit larger by adding an inner border and then slightly wider outer border.   It’s still not very big, tho.

Our next project was taken from another free design by Twigs and Sprigs.   I actually had the pattern, given to me by my friend, Patty.   However, it’s now available as a freebie.  Check out the designs and then have fun putting your touch on them.   I decided to do mine in wool on a flannel background.  

Sandy did the stitchery version and then decided she wanted a wool version too.    I love the vertical placement she did on the framed one.  

And all together.  

Another little freebie came from Cheryl Wall of “Country Quilts”.   It’s called “Christmas at the Cabin Sachet” and measures 6” x 6”.    It was really fun to make and oh so quick and easy.  I stuffed mine with fiberfill because I’m allergic to scents, but it would be really nice filled with some “smellies”.

This gives you a good reference as to how small it is.   This one is mine.

And…Sandy’s.  

Now, if that wasn’t enough, I wanted to finish something that I had sitting around (for years).   This is called “Snowmen” (duh) and it’s from the book “Hollyberry Stitcheries” by Kindred Spirits.   It’s the same book that we used for the little primitive Christmas tree that we made last month.  Great book.  

And Sandy saw this design on Pinterest and decided to whip one up for herself.  

Over the years you’ve heard about Sandy being the whiz kid at getting so many projects finished. Well, now you’ll have a new found respect for her, because in addition to getting all her projects finished (except for the frame), this is what’s going on in her house.  

A total kitchen remodel!!!   They started right after Christmas and have been living in chaos for the past 2 months.    She amazes me!

Once it’s finished, I’ll get her to show us the “after”. 

Hope everyone is staying warm and dry (poor California).   We had a couple of inches of snow overnight, and it’s really pretty and pristine outside right now.   It’s a perfect day to start on our March projects.
