February Show and Tell

Now that the snow is slowly melting, we find that getting together with our groups of girlfriends is extremely important.   Woolies on Tuesday was back to normal and a fun gathering.   Lots to show.

First up is Mari's beautiful quilt from Geoff's Mom Pattern Co.   Wow, that's a lot of work!!!

The next ones are all from our prolific Sandy!
This is her version of Buttermilk Basin's Mystery Quilt from 2016.
Don't you just love how she finished it?   So clever.

This is one that she did from a sew a long with Cheri on Cheri's Facebook Page.

Another Cheri pattern called "Bless your Heart"

This one is from a pattern by JoAnn Mullaly.   Sandy must have made multiples because I was the lucky recipient of one for Christmas.  Thanks, Sandy!

Cute pillow from Wooden Spool Designs called "Follow your Heart".

And another darling pillow from Briar Root Primitives called "The Good Heart".
You can find the pattern in the Winter 2016 magazine, "Simply Vintage".

And last, but not least, is a cute bunny from Buttermilk Basin called "Primitive Peter".
Sandy made hers 50% smaller than the original to put in a cute display.   If you follow her on instagram you can see all of her beautiful decorating. She's @sfeigner.

Next up are mine.    Lately I've been wanting to do some cross stitch.  Getting back to the old days.   Only problem is that my eyes aren't like the old days.   Yikes those holes are small.   I'm wearing "Mag Eyes" and really look rather ridiculous.  Oh well, it gets the job done.

This pattern is called "Valentine Bird" by Heart in Hand.

Little pillows are from Primitive Stitches pattern "4-Ever Valentine Mini Collection".

This is a cute little wall hanging called "Generous and Content" by Cheri.

And pillows by Cheri called "Valentine Bowl Fillers".

This is a cute little pillow that I made for a friend from  Buttermilk Basin called "Simply Words BOM-May".  I filled it with crushed walnuts and made it into a pin cushion.

I was helping Karen  with some samples that she's putting in her Etsy shop.   I loved how this one turned out so made myself one too!   She will be offering kits soon so check it out.
Pattern is by Red Button Quilt Co, called "Midnight Blooms".

And if you've been following along with all the show and tell over the months, you know that I've been working on a 12 month series of little quilts from Indygo Junction. Finally, this is the last one!   It's called "June". I'm so glad to finally have them all finished!   Woo Hoo.

And since I finished up that 12 month series, why not start another one?
(Am I nuts?  Don't answer that!)
These are by Buttermilk Basin and called "With Cotton and Wool BOM-January"

The little quilt is made separately and so darn cute!

So another month has come and gone with show and tell.   Hope you are enjoying all the fun projects.

Our snow is almost all melted and we are in countdown for Spring to begin.  Although, Spring in Central Oregon is quite iffy.  Sun one day, snow the next.   At least we can get around now though.

Have a great weekend!
Hugs, Anne

August sewing with Sandy

Well, we’re finally caught up after all the trips, family visits and just plain ‘ol summer shenanigans.

You may have noticed that we have picked fewer and smaller projects this year.   That was intentional so that we could also work on other things that we have in our stash.  Sandy is managing to put a dent in hers…  Me?  not so much.   Not sure where the time goes.

Anyway, here we go for August show and tell.   As always, Sandy’s are first.

This is a new pattern from Buttermilk Basin.   It’s part of a BOM called “Simply Words”.   This one is “September”.   It measures 6” square.

IMG_4612
Next up is an old pattern of Buttermilk Basin’s called “A Collection of Flowers #1”.   We saw them stitched up at Karen’s house and both fell in love with them.

IMG_4622
We both love bowl fillers and when Cheri came up with these new ones, we both immediately ordered the pattern.  It’s called “Summer Gathering”.  The pattern also has a cute little quilt that Sandy did.  You can look on Anna’s blog from yesterday to see it.

IMG_4614
And last, but not least, is another banner from Buttermilk Basin in the series we’ve been doing.  This one is “October”.   Now…this is where you will see a huge difference in our interpretation of the pattern.    Mine is exactly like the pattern, and Sandy’s isn’t.   Need I say more?   He he.

IMG_4611
Quite a difference, huh?   Oh that Sandy is quite the creative one!  Looks like she’s not too wild about ghosts and pumpkins.   LOL

I’m so ready for fall to arrive.   We’ve had so much smoke here in Bend from all the fires in the Pacific Northwest.  They are burning all around us so it doesn’t really matter which way the wind is blowing.   Hopefully with fall arriving and the cooler temperatures, those wonderful firefighters can get a handle on them.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs, Anne

February sewing with Sandy

Can you believe it?   5 posts in a week.   Shocking, I know!  Call the doctor, quick!   Winking smile
Tuesday was Woolies and since it’s the end of the month, time for show and tell with our projects.
Again…Sandy’s are shown first.
First up is a sweet pattern by Bonnie Sullivan of “All Through the Night designs”.   It’s called “Ole St. Nick”.
IMG_3581
I couldn’t decide if I wanted a light or a dark background, so did both!   Not sure which one I like better.
IMG_3596
Next up is a pattern by My Red Door Designs.  It’s called “Liberty Basket”. We each bought this pattern when we went to the Quilt, Knit, Stitch show in Portland last summer.   What a cute booth they had.  You’ll be seeing lots of their designs coming up this year.
Isn’t this cute on the wire?
IMG_3582
I decided to frame mine.
IMG_3590
Continuing on with the Buttermilk Basin Banners Thru the Year, this one is “April”.
IMG_3583
IMG_3594
Sandy and I both have quite a collection of patterns by Quilts by Cheri.  This one is called “A Good Day”.   The embroidery is perfect and I couldn’t agree more!
IMG_3584
IMG_3598
This last one is from an old Whimsicals book called Threads of Harmony.   The design is called “Got Wool?”.   I’m not sure if the book is still in print.
The original design doesn’t have the words on the first border.   Sandy decided to add those.   When I was talking to her and she told me what she’d done, I loved the idea.   I asked her if she would mind if I also did my own words, and she generously told me to go for it.
IMG_3585
I now have mine hanging in the entryway.   I love it!
IMG_3591
So, that’s it for February.
We are also in a challenge or quilt-a-long or sewathon, or whatever we have decided to call it, with Karen, which is due to be posted on the 1st.   See you then to show you our progress.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hugs, Anne

September sewing with Sandy

Hey everyone,  here we are again for our monthly show 'n tell.   It seems to be getting harder and harder to get these projects finished on time, but we are plugging along.    The monthly one from the “101 Fabulous Small Quilts” book didn’t get finished this month, so there will be two to show next month.

We are definitely working on holiday themes.    September was my month to choose the projects and I’m always drawn to fall and winter patterns, so I chose these…

First up is a freebie that Cheri offered last October on her blog.  It’s called “Pumpkin Seeds”.
Sandy made hers like the pattern.
IMG_2329
And I added a little wool pumpkin in the center.
IMG_2307
The next project is one that didn’t get finished in August, so we carried it over to this month.    Another quilt designed by Cheri called, “Acorns”.
Sandy made this one.  She only made 4 blocks of acorns because she read the instructions wrong. (Hehe).  I think it turned out wonderful though.
IMG_2317
Here’s mine….It’s pretty long with the 5 blocks.  I did a scrappy inner border so it’s pretty “busy”.
IMG_2314
For our stitchery project, I chose “Snowflake Folk” by Country Stitches.
Sandy made hers into a pillow.  And she told us she even made her own piping!   LOL
IMG_2319
I framed mine.
IMG_2327
And then, for the wool project, I chose “Tags of Christmas” by Plays with Wool Designs.
Again, Sandy turned hers in to a pillow…
IMG_2321
And I framed mine.
IMG_2328
It’s really been fun seeing the difference in how we each interpret the same pattern.
I had some extra time on my hands and worked on a little quilt kit that I got in Portland last month, at “Quilt, Knit, Stitch”.
I first saw this quilt on Pinterest and loved it.   When I saw it in the My Red Door booth, I knew I had to have it.  It’s called “Midnight Stars”.  I still love it!
When I took the picture on the floor it actually looked like a full size quilt,
IMG_2323
so I figured I should show you where I put it so you can get a better size reference.
IMG_2325
It has oranges and reds in it so I think I’ll be able to decorated with it for Christmas too.

I’ve finished my fall decorating, so will show you that next time.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs, Anne

April Sewing with Sandy

Sorry I’m a bit late with this recap of our projects.  No real excuse.   I guess I’m just out of the habit of blogging for some reason. Anyway, here’s the show.
This month Sandy picked the projects for us to do.
Again, first up is the April Buttermilk Basin “By Thy Hands BOM”.
This is Sandy’s.
IMG_1813
And here’s mine.
IMG_1719
Thought I’d show where I put it in the house.
IMG_1818
Our stitchery project for the month was called “Frosty Freddie Candle Mat” by Primitive Stitches.
Here are all of them together.   Sandy made the the top 2 and I made the bottom one.
IMG_1812
And a little staged photo of mine.   (wow, looks kiinda stark in this picture.   I think it needs a little quilt under it.)
DSCN0268
Then Sandy decided on “Never Leave the table before the other guests” from the book “101 Fabulous Small Quilts”
She did hers just like the pattern.
IMG_1815
I decided I wanted less of a scrappy look for mine.  (It kind of makes your eyes go crazy seeing movement where there isn’t any.  LOL)
IMG_1718
Looks better when it’s surrounded by other things.
IMG_1819
The wool project chosen was "Flying Santa Pillow” by Aunt Sanny.   This is Sandy’s…
IMG_1817
And here’s mine.
DSCN0264
We threw in this little snowman mat because it looked so simple and easy.   In fact, it’s so simple and easy that Sandy made 3.  Hers are the top ones and mine is on the bottom right.   The pattern is by Buttermilk Basin called “Sew Simple BOM” and it’s the January block.   Sandy “claims” she did so many because she had orphan blocks laying around the house.   Sure, Sandy!
IMG_1811
I filled mine with crushed walnut shells, so it can either be a pincushion or a little pillow to set out.
DSCN0266
Last fall, we went to a really cute shop in Independence, OR, Ladies of Liberty, and saw this little wall hanging.  We both fell in love with it, so it got added to the list too.   (I have long overdue pictures of the shop to share with you soon).
The pattern is called “My Little Baskets” by Primitive Patchworks.
Sandy chose to do hers in all cotton...
IMG_1816
And I did mine in Cottons n Wool!   (get it?)
IMG_1721
I had recently picked up this little quilt rack (18”) and lo and behold…this one fit perfectly.   (Don’t you just love the modern technology next to our quilts….geesh)
DSCN0269
This next one was left over from our March projects.  We told ourselves that if something didn’t get done in time for our reveal, no big deal…we’d just show it some other time.
So, this one is called “A Good Night” by Designs by Cheri.
First up is Sandy’s
IMG_1809
And mine.
DSCN0176
And then… trying to finish up some UFO’s, I managed to get this one quilted and hanging in our outside entry.   The pattern is “Simply Spring” by Cottage Creek Quilts.
I’m beginning to feel much more comfortable quilting these little ones myself.   In fact, I’m taking a Freemotion Quilting class on Saturday.   Can you imagine how much it would cost me to have someone quilt all of these little projects?   I’ll still send out the big ones, but will try to do the smaller ones myself.
DSCN0272
And last up…I managed to squeeze in this cute little pillow called “Spring Has Sprung” by Lily Anna Stitches.    I saw it made up when I was staying at Patty’s house in Calif in March.   She generously loaned me the pattern and… voila.   Another fast and easy project finished for Spring.
IMG_1748
That’s it for April.   Sorry to be a day late (and always a dollar short).   LOL
Next Monday is the yearly reveal for our challenge block for my stitching group, Material Girls.   The block that was chosen was the Dresden Plate.    It will be fun to see what everyone came up with.  It’s a fun time and I promise to be back with pictures.
Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs, Anne
