Jack’s Deck

If you remember, I told you that Jack, the kitty, will have his own little outside space.   He’s an indoor cat but loves to sit outside on our current deck and watch the world go by.   Our deck is 2 stories off the ground and has no stairs, so he’s pretty safe out there.

When we were designing the new house, we realized that Jack wasn’t going to be able to go outside at all because the outdoor living space is all on the first level.  Then, Mr. CnW came up with the brilliant expensive idea of building a deck off my nest.   So, after some discussion, we decided to go for it.   And…..we are really glad.

Today, the deck was completed.

002-11

003-10

005-10

I hope he’ll let me sit out there with him on a nice day and stitch a bit!

(By the way…the door leading to the deck is just a temporary door.  The actual door will be all glass.)

Also, the columns in the front were completed.  As you can see by their design, the house has a “craftsman” look.

001-9

The forms are all laid for concrete to be poured tomorrow on the entryway, driveway, side yard and back patio.

More to come…

Hugs,Anne

La tua casa è stupenda.
Quando vedo una casa o un giardino mi immagino comè sarebbe bello trapuntare la mia coperta in quella casa o in quel giardino.
L'ho pensato per il tuo terrazzo!!!!
un bacio

Your house is beautiful. When I see a house or garden I imagine how nice it would quilting my quilt in the house or in the garden. I thought for your terrace!!

I'm sure Jack will share his space with you as long as you have lap space for him while you are stitching :0) The house is so amazing!!

I love the railing on the deck. I think you should look at the roof as an extended playground for Jack. Cats rarely fall off anything and as long as his treats are back on the deck he'll always come down!

Yay for concrete!! Keeps you up and out of the mud! Your kitty's little nest is great! I'm sure you'll enjoy it just as much! With those windows and a glass door, you are going to have so much light streaming in, very cool! Have a good one

Now that's a throne any cat can be proud of! Sophie wants to know if she can come visit Jack - she misses the deck she had in her other house!
Cheers!

"Jack's Place" is wonderful, have you any special deck furniture in mind for him? Your progress is so exciting.

Looking sooooo good, Anne.

How long do you think before you can move in and enjoy?

The deck looks wonderful and I can see you are Jack hanging out there when it is warm. Did you take away his escape routes??

I think Jack needs a bird feeder to watch, a comfy chair to sun in, and some grass to chew. He deserves it.

The house is looking lovely. The deck is great and I completely understand. When I was looking for a new place, a "safe" porch or deck was important for my cat. She's an indoor girl and the porch is her great outdoors!

Oh, it's all coming along nicely! I do love the Craftsman look and the deck is a really sweet addition. If Jack's a smart kitty, he will definitely share such a lovely space with you! :-)

Hi....
Just a note; watch for your cat to attempt to jump. My friend did the same thing and after two days of the cat being on the deck supervised they left him unattended for a brief time. They went back and no cat! He jumped! They found him limping down the block after several hours of searching. Needless to say he was banished from the deck!
