Fit to Frame challenge #3

Wow, hard to believe it’s already May and time for the next posting of the challenge that Karen, Sandy (no blog) and I are doing.

We are 9 blocks into this with only 3 more to go next month.   It really has made this little challenge so much fun and definitely do-able.

First up are Sandy’s blocks.

And these are mine.

This is my progress so far.

Fit to Frame Lori Smith

I’m still not sure how I’m going to finish mine.   I’m thinking of a small sashing between the blocks and then fabric borders.   So it kind of looks like window panes.  Any suggestions for me?

The BIG news I have to share is….drumroll please…. I’m going to visit Karen at the Farmhouse.   Sandy and I are leaving on Sunday to spend a few days with her enjoying her piece of paradise on the lake and then heading down to Minneapolis midweek to Quilt Market.   Karen and I will be helping out Gail Pan in her wonderful booth!  (unfortunately, Sandy will be heading back home before market begins.)  Needless to say, I’m super excited and can’t wait to see her beautiful house with her fantastic decorating!   (not to mention that wonderful “nest” that looks more like a wool studio!  he he.)

I’ll be sure and take lots of pictures to share with you.   You can follow me on Instagram @cottonsnwool  or on Facebook – Anne Sherrard Bryson if you want to see pictures before they make it to the blog…   (If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you know me and my timeliness of quilt market pictures.  HA)

Now head on over to Karen’s blog and take a look at her progress.   I love seeing her blocks because she’s combining cottons and wool.   Hmmm, wonder why I like them so much.

See you soon.   Hugs, Anne

I had never considered doing Lori's applique patterns in wool, and since I don't do any other kind of applique, I have only made a few of her pieced patterns. I love what you have created! It inspires me.
Sounds like you have wonderfully fun plans. I hope you will share photos of Gail's booth, along with the photos of Karen's place!

Looks like Lori Smiths blocks are done in cotton. Would be some small applique pieces. I like the blocks done in wool very well.

I've never met a Lori Smith quilt that I didn't like, and I especially love them in wool! Sounds like you have a very fun week ahead...maybe I will see you at Market.

Hello Anne,
I've been a long time follower, but this is my first time to comment. I have been wanting to tell you for a long time how much I love your work. Your Lori Smith blocks are just beautiful. I always enjoy seeing the differences between you and your friends when making the same blocks. I did not know you are on Facebook, so I've just sent a Friend Request to view your lovely photos there as well. Have a wonderful time at Karen's and at market; looking forward to your upcoming photos and posts.
Warm Regards, Lisa in Lake Oswego
